We need more people who are unafraid to express themselves in reality, to be seen, and to be heard out loud, not on some blog page buried on the web.Layout : Cosy Red Kite Lodge has level access into the entrance hall with shoe storage cupboard. While I realize that schools aim to keep blogging curriculum focused, at the end of the day blogs are an outlet for personal outcry about whatever the author wishes and most online pundits and soap box hero's have little if anything to say in person but this is precisely what the world needs in my opinion. Since the dawn of time kids have been squacking to each other in classrooms, verbally blogging to one another about how they feel about this or that and being chastised by every teacher from here to eternity for doing the very things they're now being encouraged to do online.

I'd like to see less emphasis on professional development with regards to kids and more emphasis on being kids and developing at sub-light speeds. While the benefits of blogging are obvious for certain applications, blogging has also created a culture where what is written is very widespread and available to millions, with nearly no oversight as to what is being said about what topic and is it factual or not.

It seems to me that we've lost the art of interpersonal communication. We don't have to speak so someone when buying groceries, gas, or just about anything else for that matter. We don't have to speak to anyone anymore if we don't want to. We may be able to interact with people all over the world like never before but I feel like there is something missing from our lives.

The integration of technology has created fantastic conveniences for all of us (taking our graduate programs online for instance) but truthfully this experience does not come close to actually sitting in a classroom with my peers and instructors. Don't get me wrong, I realize that the future is likely not going to dumb down back to the chalk and blackboard days but I have the feeling that we as a society have become very disconnected in many ways since we have become so connected through the internet. I have to say, as a self professed technology geek, that I do have mixed emotions about this type of technology taking such a profound role in formal education of children.
